Dundurn Press is excited to announce that two of its books have been nominated for the Ontario Library Association’s 2021 Evergreen Award program!

 

Broken Man on a Halifax Pier by Lesley Choyce is a tale of one man’s shipwrecked life and an unlikely crew of rescuers. Library Journal calls this “a great vacation book, one to take to the beach or to curl up with by the fireplace.”

We are thrilled to congratulate our author Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia who is the inaugural winner of the SprinNG Women Authors Prize for her book, The Son of the House!

Dundurn Press is releasing the North American version of Onyemelukwe-Onuobia's powerful debut novel in May 2021. The Son of the House tells the stories of two Nigerian women, divided by class and social inequality, whose lives intersect when they're kidnapped, held captive, and forced to await their fate together.

Dundurn Press is thrilled to congratulate author Kate Armstrong whose 2019 book The Stone Frigate is the winner of the 2020 Ontario Historical Society Alison Prentice Award!


The Stone Frigate:The Royal Military College's First Female Cadet Speaks Out is the harrowing account of an ordinary, young woman admitted as the first female Cadet at the Royal Military College of Canada, as she struggled for survival in the ultimate boys’ club. The Stone Frigate was also a finalist for the 2020 Kobo Emerging Writer Prize in Nonfiction. 

Dundurn Press is excited to announce that two of its books have been nominated for the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading program. The Jigsaw Puzzle King by Gina McMurchy-Barber has been nominated for the Forest of Reading Silver Birch Award 2021 and Christina Kilbourne’s Safe Harbour has been nominated for the Forest of Reading Red Maple Award 2021!

Dundurn Press is thrilled to congratulate YA author Colleen Nelson on receiving two award nominations! Spin, Nelson’s seventh novel for young adults, has been shortlisted for the 2021 Manitoba Young Readers Choice Northern Lights Award as well as the 2020 High Plains Book Award in the Young Adult category.

Breakdown: The Pipeline Debate and the Threat to Canada's Future is an examination of Canada’s struggle to rationalize hydrocarbon development that culminated in the 2018 impasse over the Trans Mountain Pipeline extension. Named one of the Hill Times’ “100 Best Non-Fiction Canadian Books in 2019,” Breakdown is McConaghy’s second book after 2017’s highly praised Dysfunction: Canada after Keystone XL.
